THE CLUB
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive club, both on the green and off. Our membership is very broad, spanning experienced players who have played the game for longer than they may care to admit and others who have been with us only one season. The club is also equally well-represented by both male and female members. It really is a club open to everyone.
South Petherton Bowling Club is a members club but anyone wishing to try bowls for the first time or who wishes to visit the club is most welcome to do so before making any commitment to membership.
TEAM SPIRIT
Bowls is a wonderful sport that brings people together through good-natured competition and the endlessly challenging nature of bowling. Whether it is representing the club in inter-club competitions or joining in a roll-up session, you will feel part of a team, sharing in the highs and lows of individual and team performances. There are plenty of opportunities for bowlers of every level of skill and you can choose how much you want to play and when it suits you.
We enjoy competition but, first and foremost, most of us simply love the game and the camaraderie it instils.
FRIENDSHIP & COMMUNITY
Through membership comes both friendship and community. You will quickly become part of a broad social circle who value each other's company, whether engaged in competition or unwinding socially after games. Such camaraderie bolsters confidence and self esteem, both on and off the green. There is also great pleasure to be found in getting to know teammates' traits and idiosyncrasies!
FACILITIES
The well-equipped clubhouse provides a welcoming space for socialising after a game, as well as a venue for social functions held throughout the year. The club has recently invested in a new modern kitchen, suitable for catering for large groups, as well as new toilet facilities. And, of course, there is a bar, offering a good selection of wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks.
As for the green, our team of volunteers work hard to maintain an exceptional playing surface throughout the season. We are regularly commended by other clubs for the high standard of the green.
